The Beginner
Levels are designed to teach early reading skills and
essential sight vocabulary in the context of the Literacy Hour,
with materials for shared and guided reading. The Beginner Teacher's
Notes and Copymasters provide full support of the National
Literacy Strategy.
Key
Stage 1 materials are completely in-line with the NLS,
and include extra-large big books for shared reading and a wide
selection of books for group reading. The New Edition Teacher's
Resource Book contains NLS Notes and the Revised Copymasters provide
activities for text, sentence and word-level work. A grid at the
back of each fiction book gives suggestions for text, sentence and
word-level work in line with the NLS.
At Key
Stage 2, term-by-term, large-size text extracts are available
for shared work, and more titles have been added for guided reading,
making a total of 94 titles covering a range of genres. New editions
of the Teacher's Resource Books (one for each KS2 year) include
NLS teaching notes and activities for text, sentence and word-level
work. A grid at the back of each fiction book gives suggestions
for text, sentence and word-level work in line with the NLS.
"We're
pleased it fits so well for our Literacy Hour - and our children
love the books!"
Mrs. Waddington, Deputy Head
Pendle County Primary School, Lancashire

The
Longman Book Project has been used with great success
throughout Scotland and is highly recommended by many teachers and
advisers. A Fiction Teacher's Resource Book specifically for P1-3
is now available. The new editions of the Teacher's Resource
Books which cover both Key Stage 2 and P4-7 are now available.
"The
Longman Book Project is ideal for Early Intervention and The 5-14
Guidelines. It offers a unique entrance to literacy."
